I've never had a mantel for Christmas stockings in any of the houses I grew up in (not a thing in Japan or Hawai'i, weirdly!), but I've always envied being able to decorate them and do fun things. I'm a sucker for twinkly lights and color, so I imagine stockings for us (and the dogs, of course) hanging with cute tags with a warm fire going underneath it all.
